ISA's 67th ANNUAL CONVENTION Back to the Fundamentals: Rethinking Knowledges, Practices, and Imaginaries of the World, Ohio, Amerika Birleşik Devletleri, 4 - 06 Mart 2026, ss.1, (Özet Bildiri)
This proposal examines the techno-politics of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technologies in Türkiye, integrating a theoretical techno-political framework with practical insights. Techno-politics explores how technology shapes and is shaped by power dynamics, governance, and societal values. In Türkiye, UAV development, led by firms like Baykar, reflects a strategic interplay of state policy, military needs, and economic ambition. The theoretical framework analyzes how UAVs influence Türkiye’s geopolitical leverage, domestic security policies, and international alliances. Practically, Türkiye’s UAV programs, such as the Bayraktar series, demonstrate technological progress, with capabilities in reconnaissance, combat, and export markets. However, challenges persist, including dependency on foreign components and regulatory gaps in civilian airspace integration. The proposal advocates a balanced approach: fostering innovation through public-private partnerships, enhancing local R&D to reduce external reliance. By aligning techno-political analysis with practical advancements, this study aims to contribute to global discussions on technology governance, offering a perspective on Türkiye’s UAV ecosystem.
